The Story Behind The Hermit

A great cup of The Hermit should do more than taste good. It should create space. A pause in your day to breathe, reset, and reconnect with yourself. One cup at a time, The Hermit becomes part of a daily ritual — a reminder that strength, clarity, and calm already exist within you.

After more than a decade working as an engineer in the energy industry, I realized something essential was missing. I felt called to step away from a “secure” path and embrace curiosity, purpose, and impact. As a lifelong coffee enthusiast with a deep connection to Colombia, I envisioned a coffee brand rooted in intention, sustainability, and human connection. That vision became The Hermit.

The journey began with a small batch roaster and a few kilograms of green coffee brought back from Colombia after visiting family. Through experimentation, learning, and patience, The Hermit slowly took shape. Today, we roast using commercial-grade equipment, continuing to refine our craft with the same curiosity that sparked the beginning.

Our goal is not simply to offer high-quality specialty coffee. We aim to create a coffee experience that respects the land, honors the people who cultivate it, and enriches everyone involved in the journey. From farmers and producers to roasters and coffee lovers, we believe meaningful impact is built through long-term relationships, transparency, and care.

At The Hermit, we believe this journey is not meant to be traveled alone. We invite our community to be part of the process — from the earliest stages of sourcing to the final cup. Your curiosity, feedback, and support help keep this project honest, grounded, and meaningful.

IMPACTFUL. MYSTICAL. SUSTAINABLE.

Embracing the Hermit Philosophy

Modern life often fills our days with noise and distraction. While many things appear important on the surface, they rarely nourish the soul. At The Hermit, we believe meaning is found in simple moments — a sunrise, a shared conversation, or a thoughtfully brewed cup of coffee.

Coffee becomes our medium for connection. Through intentional sourcing, sustainable practices, and mindful roasting, we seek to create moments of clarity and presence. Those quiet pauses, when the world slows and perspective sharpens, are where the mystical lives.

The idea

Building a Sustainable Coffee Experience

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our approach focuses on creating positive impact across the entire coffee journey — from the farmer to the consumer — while remaining honest about the fact that sustainability is an ongoing process, not a finished destination.

  • SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

We embrace sustainable practices throughout our value chain, working to minimize environmental impact and protect the future of coffee for generations to come.

  • LOCAL ROASTING

Roasted locally in South Texas, ensuring freshness, quality, and a strong connection to our community.

  • ETHICALLY SOURCED BEANS

We source coffee through direct, fair partnerships that honor Colombian producers and the communities behind every harvest. Quality and ethics go hand in hand.

  • TRANSPARENCY AND TRACEABILITY

We prioritize transparency in how we source and roast, with ongoing efforts to make each coffee’s journey easier to trace back to its origin.
